You’ve probably heard people say “open a pull request” or “check it on GitHub”—but what does that actually mean?

This beginner-friendly session explains the basics of Git and GitHub in the context of Joomla!. We’ll walk through what Git is, how GitHub is used in the Joomla! project, and why it’s such an important tool for collaboration in open source.

You’ll learn how to set up the tools you need, understand the typical workflow, and see how you can use GitHub to test patches, report issues, and contribute to Joomla!.

No prior Git experience is required. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how the Joomla! development workflow works—and how you can start participating.

I can't wait for the Joomla World Conference to happen! It will be my first, but I’m pretty sure the event will bring me inspiration, passion, knowledge and a great opportunity to meet all the JFriends I made in person, make new friends and help shape Joomla’s future. For years I have thought the global Joomla Community was not for me, but since I started working for the Joomla Community Magazine five years ago, I know better: everyone can contribute and everyone matters. I'm looking forward to meeting you there!
